On July 18, Kick off Ceremony of JMC Xiaolan Site 300,000 Whole Vehicle Program
was held grandly in Nanchang, Jiangxi.
At the ceremony Mr. Su Rong, the Secretary of Jiangxi Provincial Committee announced the official kick-off of JMC Xiaolan Site 300,000 Whole Vehicle Program. Mr. Zhao Zhiyong, the member of the Standing Committee of Jiangxi Provincial Committee and the Secretary General of Jiangxi Provincial Committee, Mr. Yu Xinrong, the member of the Standing Committee of Jiangxi Provincial Committee and the Secretary of Nanchang Municipal Committee, Mr. Hong Lihe, the vice Governor of Jiangxi, and Mr. Robert Graziano, the vice President of Ford Motor Company and Chairman of Ford China who made a special trip to this ceremony, and Mr. Wang Xigao, the Chairman of Jiangling Motors Co., Ltd. cut the ribbons for this ceremony. About one thousand people, including officials from municipal and prefecture government and from provincial and municipal departments have attended the grand kick off ceremony. Numerous entrepreneurs from sixteen World Top 500 auto spare part enterprises and dozens of enterprises in Taiwan have made a special trip to this ceremony.

This program was kicked off against the background that JMC need to break the capacity bottleneck to realize additional volume and bigger scale thus making JMC bigger and stronger as soon as possible. JMC total production volume has exceeded 110,000 units in 2009, it was expected that JMC production and sales volume may exceed 170,000 units in 2010 and 200,000 units in 2011 was forecasted. JMC current maximum capacity can't meet sales demands, which will greatly affect the development of this company. It was impending for JMC to build a new facility for capacity expansion.

Big project needs big investment. JMC Xiaolan Site was planned to cover an area of 2000 mu and will be built phase by phase. According to the Board Meeting announcement released by JMC on July 1, an investment of 2.133 billion RMB on Xiaolan Site fixed assets was approved, in addition, investment has also been made on the full-automatic stamping production line and relevant tooling devices, then the investment implemented and approved on Xiaolan Site has exceeded 3 billion RMB. This project was a brand new plant covering stamping, body, paint and final assembly production functions, MP&L and other supporting functions, utility power station and service facilities. It was scheduled to be launched in succession from 2013. After the project goes into the production stage, JMC expected annual operation revenue of whole vehicles will be dramatically increased.

The construction of JMC new site has received extensive attention from the public. Major leaders in Jiangxi provincial and Nanchang municipal government have attached much importance to and given strong support especially for deepening the cooperation between Ford and JMC, government leading officials paid a visit to Shanghai and discussed with Ford CEO at the beginning of this year for a direct boost of JMC-Ford partnership through high level dialogue. Mr. Yu Xinrong, the member of the Standing Committee of Jiangxi Provincial Committee and the Secretary of Nanchang Municipal Committee, said that the construction of JMC New Site is a pleasant progress of Nanchang to build its hundred billion auto and component industry.

In the macro background that Jiangxi is supporting automobile industry, one of the Top 10 Industries in state-level Poyang lake Eco Economic Zone, Nanchang Auto City where JMC new site located, drafted a blue print of advanced manufacturing base as Nanchang's backbone industry and planned to build a internationalized best-in-class whole vehicle and auto components development and production base. Mr. Hong Lihe, the vice Governor of Jiangxi Provincial People’s Government said in his speech on the ceremony that the construction of JMC Xiaolan Site was to significantly promote the accelerating construction of internationalized best-in-class whole vehicle and auto components development and production base, and creating bigger and stronger auto industry, as well as cultivating new economic increase point.

Through the efforts made by world leading engineering planners including Ford experts, the site was planned with rational functional areas, convenient logistics and lean manufacturing management. Source the equipments from domestic and international suppliers to control the construction cost and reach high input-output ratio. Adhering to the concept of sustainable development, JMC will build Xiaolan new site into a green plant by adopting the most advanced energy-saving and environment friendly technologies.
